Animals coming into our shelter are scanned for a microchip then held for a 3 business day waiting period. Sumter County Animal Services will do everything possible to reunite the animal with the owner.
We have to be contacted within the 3 business day waiting period. At the end of the third business day the animal will be evaluated for adoptability. After the evaluation process, if it is determined the animal is not adoptable, it will be euthanized.
If your pet has been lost, contact the Sumter County Animal Services at 352-569-1960, or you may call the Humane Society / SPCA of Sumter County at 352-793-9117. Their office hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The Humane Society / SPCA of Sumter County also notifies Animal Services when they receive calls about missing animals.
