Why is Sumter District assessment normally higher than The Villages District?
Each district receives money through fire assessment fee collection and from the County’s general fund. The Villages Fire District has a third funding source, each Village resident pays an amenities fee that also goes toward thier fire services budget.

What is an "improved property" under assessment guidelines?
"Improved Property” is a parcel that has a structure/building on it,(it is no longer a vacant piece of land). This does not relate to improvements (window replacements, additions) made to the any of the structures located on the parcel.
