Our mission is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and animals of Sumter County and to promote justice and equity in the enforcement of state and local laws for control and protection.

Our office is centrally located at Lake Panasoffkee, just right in front of the Sumter County Solid Waste facility off County Road 470.

Animal Control strives to protect people and property from the dangers of roaming, uncontrolled animals as well as protecting pets from the dangers these animals face in the wild and on our busy streets and highways.

Sumter County Animal Control covers 574 square miles of territory. Our staff is comprised of one manager, two road officers, three kennel workers and a secretary.

Our officers are very busy and we appreciate your patience when requesting response to a call.

Please remember we respond to emergencies first.

We control stray animals and potentially dangerous animals roaming at large.
