All dogs must be confined on the owner's property at all times or under direct control or on a leash when off the owner's property.

If your dog is tethered, it must be on a tether that is a minimum of eight feet long and is tangle free. This is for the health and well being of your animal.

It is a violation of the ordinance to allow your dog to bark excessively and continuously. There are many bark control items on the market that are humane and do not cause the animal too much discomfort that can be used.

We respond to calls for abused and neglected animals and take appropriate action. To commit an act of cruelty on any animal by either omission or intent is in direct violation of the Animal Ordinance and State Law.

Lost pets are brought to the Animal Control shelter where they are cared for until their owners can reclaim them.

If you have stray cats or kittens in your neighborhood and would like to help control the population that may be growing, you may bring the animals to the facility during kennel hours and we will be happy to put them up for adoption.

Please remember, it is a violation of the Animal Ordinance and State Law to abandon or dispose of any animal on the property of another person or on any public property.

All dogs and cats must have current rabies vaccinations. Rabies is a contagious and fatal disease. It destroys the central nervous system and leads to paralysis, convulsions and death. All animal bites and scratches are regarded as potential sources of rabies. Rabies cannot be cured but outbreaks can be prevented by having your pets vaccinated every year.

Vaccinations must be given by a licensed veterinarian for your pet to be recognized as a vaccinated animal.

If your animal is impounded and does not have a current rabies vaccination, you will be required to arrange for a veterinarian to come to the shelter to vaccinate your animal before the animal can leave the shelter.

Treat your pet as you would your children. Outside animals need shelter from the sun, rain, wind and cold. An old car or a propped up piece of plywood does not constitute proper shelter. If you confine your animal, a clean water supply and a sufficient quantity of food must be made available to your pet.
