MAXIMUM ASSISTANCE - UP TO $85,000.00

Several funding sources are utilized to assist as many homeowners that are living in substandard housing as possible. All repairs are completed to bring the home up to current code and ensure that it is safe and habitable. These funds are not intended for cosmetic purposes. This program is designed for Single Family Owner units. Rental units will not be eligible under this program. Mobile/Manufactured Homes are not eligible for rehabilitation, only for replacement.

Assistance shall be in the form of a 0% interest deferred payment mortgage secured by a mortgage and note for elderly (62 years of age or older) and handicapped recipients and will be forgiven after ten (10) years. Assistance for all other recipients will be in the form of a 0% interest loan secured by a mortgage and note payable over a thirty (30) year period.

A former rehabilitation recipient cannot be assisted for 5 years. A former replacement recipient cannot be assisted for 15 years. Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-qualified, first-serve basis following annual advertisement of the availability of SHIP funds. Applicants must submit a completed SHIP application for determination of income eligibility.
