Sumter County Florida
Rabies Vaccinations
Vaccination Clinics
Periodically, there will be low cost vaccination clinics sponsored by the Humane Society / SPCA of Sumter County. Information will be posted on this web page as it is made available.

Important Note
Rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs, cats, and ferrets by County Code 4-11 and by Florida Statute 828.30. Rabies is a contagious and fatal disease. It destroys the central nervous system and leads to paralysis, convulsions, and death. All animal bites and scratches are regarded as potential sources of rabies. Rabies cannot be cured, but outbreaks can be prevented by having your pets vaccinated every year.

Rabies Prevention
In order to help control the possible outbreak of rabies in the wildlife population of Sumter County, Animal Control, in coordination with Sumter County Health Department, assists in the disbursement of rabies pellets in the most densely wooded areas of the county. This takes place every spring.
