WellFlorida Council
Overview

WellFlorida Council formerly known as the North Central Florida Health Planning Council exists under Florida's health planning law (Section 408.033, Florida Statutes) which establishes local health councils as public or private, non-profit agencies with a membership appointed by the county commissions of each county in each AHCA district. The 16 counties of District III are represented by 24 members and appointment of the Council Board members is the responsibility of the county commission in each of the 16 counties in North Central Florida.
 


Requirements
Florida law prescribes certain requirements the Council's governing body:

  • Three membership categories are defined: provider, consumer, and purchaser
  • A majority of the board must be consumers and purchasers
  • Opportunities for rotation of representation categories among membership seats must be allowed
  • County commission may reappoint members
