Lake Okahumpka Park
Something New for Lake Okahumpka Park
On April 29, 2005, it took approximately 10 hours for volunteers from the Wildwood Rotary, Parks and Recreation staff, an Installation Supervisor and inmates from the SCI Boot Camp to complete the installation of a $14,000 playground unit at Lake Okahumpka Park just east of Wildwood off SR 44. Shortly after that, a new swing set, landscape borders and ADA compliant mulch were installed to complete this $21,000 project. 100% of these funds were provided by the Wildwood Rotary for this project.
The Wildwood Rotary has contributed in excess of $75,000 in funds and labor to this park. In addition, we are presently working with them to coordinate the identification and signage of the native plants along the 1+ mile paved fitness trail. Much thanks and appreciation to this organization for their ongoing dedication and support!!
Permitting for a new Double Boat Ramp with an ADA Accessible Floating Center Dock is currently underway and is funded by the FBIP Grant Program.
Through FRDAP Grant Funds additional play equipment, rest rooms, picnic facilities, fishing/observation pier and more will also be added over the next 12 to 24 months.
