Health DepartmentThe Sumter County Health Department provides public health services, clinical services, environmental services, and maintains birth and death vital records. These services are provided under the terms of a contract between the Board of Sumter County Commissioners and the Florida Department of Health. Funding is provided thru county, state, federal, and other sources. The Board of Sumter County Commissioners works very closely with the Health Department in their mission to promote the health and safety of all residents of Sumter County .

Sumter County Cooperative Extension Program

4-H Ag Programs Ag Programs Sumter Dairy Master Gardener

Florida Cooperative Extension is a partnership between the University Of Florida Institute Of Food and Agricultural Sciences, the United States Department of Agriculture, and county governments throughout Florida to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public through non-resident educational counties by providing information and conducting educational programs. Funding for these services is derived from county, state, federal, and other sources. Sumter County Extension services provides educational programs on sustainable agriculture, competitiveness in world markets, natural resource conservation, energy conservation, food safety, child and family development, consumer credit counseling and youth development. Among the several popular programs provided through the Extension Services are the Master Gardener Program and 4-H youth programs.
