Information needed when applying for a Residential/Mobile Home Building Permit

When applying for a building permit for residential construction or a mobile home, the first stop will be the Zoning Department. They will begin your application and will need certain information:

  1. The parcel number, legal description, or the recorded deed for the property where construction, alteration or improvement will be done.
  2. The 911 address (does not apply to vacant land)
  3. Two copies of a site plan showing as applicable:
    • the dimensions of the property
    • the distances the structure will be from property lines, roads or easements.
    • the location of the existing or proposed driveway
    • the location of the well and septic tank
    • all existing structures and all new improvements to be added to the site.

With this information, the Zoning Department will start the permitting process. For information on the requirements for the building permit, refer to the Building Department site.
