The Sumter County Public Works Division provides a variety of functions and services throughout the county. The majority of these services are the development and maintenance of the County’s infrastructure. The infrastructure refers to the basic facilities, services and installations of roads, bridges, sidewalks, street signs, traffic lights, and other basic necessities needed for our community to function properly. The Road and Bridge Department is responsible for the engineering, construction and maintenance of the County’s roads and bridges. The Department also manages the financial aspect of impact fees spent on special projects throughout Sumter County.
Public Works is also responsible for the Solid Waste facility, Parks and Recreation, and implements local and state Mosquito Control programs to help minimize the threat of disease. The Public Works Division is staffed by over 85 employees and is open daily to serve the needs of our citizens.
