Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program
“FRDAP” Check Presentations


On August 9, 2005, the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners were formally presented with two $200,000 Ceremonial Checks for grants awarded from the FRDAP Grant Program.  The first check was for Lake Panasoffkee Recreation Park for improvements to existing ball field lighting, playground improvements, a paved fitness/bike path, a new rest room/concession facility, a multipurpose field, an adult softball field, fencing and improvements to existing basketball and tennis court surfacing.  The second check was for Lake Okahumpka Park – Phase II with improvements to include rest rooms, additional picnic facilities, playground equipment, a fishing/observation pier, trail signage, a double boat ramp and a mountain bike trail. These checks were presented by Senator Carey Baker, Representative Hugh Gibson and Harry F. Mitchell, Park Manager, representing the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
